The Resource Insights shows where each Resource has been planned and allocated on a per-Project basis across a chosen date range.
This allows the Resource Manager to determine which Resources are at capacity and those under-allocated.
Click Resource Management under the Management menu under the Capacity Management drop-down list, to access this dashboard.
This opens the following Demand Chart and Projects panel.
You can filter the display by Skills across the Resource Departments using the control panel at the top of the dashboard.
Use the filters in the control panel at the top of the dashboard to:
View “Month From” / “Month To” to focus in on a particular period.
“Resource Department” this is the particular department or pool of Resources. You can choose a Resource Department from the drop-down list.
“Skill” – the drop-down list gives you the choice of skills. You can only view one skill at a time. In our example we have chosen Process Engineer.
- Click GO to view your selection.
Your selection will show in the “Demand Chart”, “Projects”, “Resources” and “Approved Resources by Project” panels.
The behaviour of these panels are the same as already described and outlined in the “Portfolio Insights” section of this document.
The Resource Manager can quickly identify the gaps where:
- Demand has not been allocated a resource
- Allocated resources have not been approved
- Available vs Over-allocated
The information in the panels can be exported for further analysis of the data, if required.
