Exporting to Microsoft Project (MSP)

Modified on Thu, 14 Nov, 2024 at 11:33 AM

Projects can be exported from Cora to Microsoft Project by taking the following steps:

  • Navigate to Export to Microsoft Project

Note: Terminology and location may vary depending on your configuration.

Checkout the Project

When preparing to export a file, you can Checkout the Project so that it cannot be edited by other users while this process is taking place.

  • Select the Tick Box “Checkout Project”, so that it will remain locked until you check in the exported file. This means that the Gantt Chart is read only until it is checked back in, either via import or using the check in function.
  • Select Next

Choosing the File Type

  • Select the output format (XML or MPX)

The MPX format is provided for compatibility with older versions of Microsoft Project prior to 2002.

For all versions of Microsoft Project from 2002 onwards, the XML format is advised.

  • Click EXPORT

The file will be generated and downloaded in your chosen format to facilitate being subsequently imported to MSP.

Check in the Project

Once the file has been successfully exported, the user can “check in” the file, to allow further updating of this project.

  • Navigate to the toolbar and click the icon next to “CHECKED OUT”:

The following confirmation pane will open:

Click CHECK IN to complete the check in (or CANCEL to terminate the action).
