Project Stage

Click on the drop-down arrow in the “Project Stage” filter to open the drop-down menu.  You can “Check All” or choose the specific options you want to look at.  These options are dependent on what has been configured on your instance of Cora PPM.

In the following example we will look at the “Approval” and “Kick-off” stages:

With the further filters applied the Dashboard widgets update and display the projects associated with the ““Growth, Stability and Renewal” strategies for the “Internal Departments” that are at approval and kick-off stages.

In our example there is 5 Project and 6 Milestones.

Project Type

Depending on the configuration for your organisations instance of Cora PPM you will have available options for the Project Type.

In the following example we have checked all the options for project type.

The dashboard display remains the same (5 projects and 6 milestones).

Click on the drop-down arrow in the “Project Status” filter to open the drop-down menu.  You can “Check All” or choose the specific options you want to look at.   In the following example we have selected to see the projects that have the status Red, Amber or Green.

Projects:

The Portfolio (Executive) Dashboard has always included a Project Selector allowing you to select projects from around the system and not be constrained by the programme hierarchy.

To select a view containing specific projects, use the drop-down and either use the type search or alternatively you can pick specific projects.

It allows you to pick and choose the preferred blend of projects you want to see.

In the following example we have chosen the STP Development project.

As you change your selection, every single widget on the dashboard is refreshed and the view now relates to the chosen project(s) only.

If you want to change the selection you can click the red x in the filter box to delete your chosen options and clear the filter.

If you have selected a programme and all the projects within it, any projects added to the programme after the project selection is saved are not automatically added to the selection.  Whilst this behaviour was designed to provide users with the ability to individually select just some projects within a programme, many users would prefer the projects to be automatically selected.   Therefore, you can choose the behaviour you prefer.

Within the project selector, scroll down to the ‘Settings’ option:

Clicking ‘Settings’ allows you to choose how you want the project selector to behave:

If “Auto Select Sub-projects” is checked (the default) then checking a programme in the project selector will automatically select all the existing sub-projects within that programme.

If “Automatically Update Selection” is checked, then as projects are added to the programme, the project selector will be automatically updated to include them.  This option is unchecked by default so that any existing user selections are not affected.

Note:  The other filters on this page will still apply so even if a new project is automatically added to the project selection, it may still be excluded from the dashboard by one of the other filters.  For example, if the status filter is set to show only red projects, a newly added project with a status of green will not appear in the dashboard even though it is included in the projects list.

Note:  To maintain a consistent user experience, the project selector field in both Report Builder and the Portfolio Report has been updated to support the same options.  In Report Builder, the old check box to include sub-projects has been removed as it is replaced by the options in the settings modal.
