When configuring register access in a Portal, previously you could restrict access to the owner of a register item or the person who raised it but not to a group of users. This led to issues where a portal was created for, say, contractors and access needed to be restricted to users within the same contracting entity.
A new option has now been added to the access options for registers to allow you to restrict access to users who share a common attribute. This attribute must be configured as a custom user dropdown or custom user organisation*
Example: John and Fiona both work for XYZ Corp. John creates an entry in a change register. Fiona needs to be able to see entries in the change log created by John but not entries created by a user who works for a different Company. You can now create a custom user attribute to hold the contracting company and, if John and Fiona both have the same value for that attribute, they will be able to view and/or update each other’s register entries.
